Especially for sauna sessions, a good choice of quality for dousing agents is decisive. According to a study by the University of Vienna, many such agents do unfortunately contain synthetic fragrances in order to come up with the most intense scent possible.

These partly develop into very dangerous chemical decomposition products when sprinkled onto the about 200 °C hot sauna stones, which as a consequence can accumulate considerably in the sometimes narrow sauna spaces and thus cause health problems.
